YouTube Player

Menu: ALF > Content Creation > YouTube Player Setup

Adds a video screen that plays a YouTube video and stays in the room for the whole lesson, for example an introduction video by the entrance, or a how-to video next to a machine.

The screen shows only the video, without YouTube's own buttons. Learners use the screen's controls: Play, Pause, Restart, Mute and a progress bar to jump to another point in the video. A video never starts by itself: learners press the large Play video button over the picture first.

Video for one lesson step?

For a video that belongs to one step of a lesson, use the video option in Scenario Setup or Guidance Setup instead. This tool is for a screen that's always there.

Quick start

  1. Open ALF > Content Creation > YouTube Player Setup.
  2. Give the screen a Name, for example Intro video.
  3. Paste the link into YouTube URL. Check that the video ID appears and that the check below says the video can be embedded.
  4. Choose the Player Size and set the Spawn Coordinates.
  5. Press Generate YouTube Player.
  6. Save the scene with Ctrl+S.

The video plays only in the app on the headset, not in the Unity Editor.
