Planetary Lab

Menu: ALF > Physics > Planetary Lab Setup

Builds a physics experiment in the room: two objects, such as a feather and a metal block, are dropped side by side. Learners change the gravity, the air density and an object's mass, for example to compare Earth, the Moon and Mars or to switch to a vacuum, and watch how the fall changes.

The lab comes with:

  • controls for learners to change the conditions,
  • graphs of each object's height and speed during the fall,
  • arrows showing the forces: weight, air resistance and buoyancy,
  • an optional guided lesson in English and German.

Quick start

  1. Make a lesson scene with Scene Generation.
  2. Open ALF > Physics > Planetary Lab Setup.
  3. In step 1 System, press Create a lab in the active scene.
  4. Work through steps 2 Bodies to 6 Lesson.
  5. In step 7 Save, press Apply lab settings, then save the scene with Ctrl+S.

Guides

  1. What learners see and do
  2. Create a lab
  3. Set what learners can change and measure
  4. Add the guided lesson
  5. Update or remove a lab
